Vorne weg fuhr die Polizeieskorte, dicht gefolgt der Mannschaftsbus der Schottischen Nationalmannschaft. Im Hotel Obermühle bezogen die Spieler am Sonntag ihre Zimmer für die Europameisterschaft. Dort warteten schon die ersten Fans auf die Mannschaft. Die Marktgemeinde Garmisch-Partenkirchen hatte noch eine Willkommensveranstaltung ins Leben gerufen. Der Tourbus machte am frühen Abend Halt an der Bayernhalle, wo bereits unzählige Schottland-Fans gespannt auf die Profispieler warteten. Kaum waren die Fußballer aus dem Bus gestiegen, wurde es eng um sie. Jeder wollte ein Autogramm oder ein Selphie mit seinem Idol. In der Bayernhalle wartete das Empfangskomitee. Mit Blasmusik marschierten die Spieler ein und wurden bejubelt. Von der Bühne aus hieß Bürgermeisterin Elisabeth Koch die Schotten in Garmisch-Partenkirchen willkommen. Jeder Nationalspieler durfte sich auch in das Goldene Buch der Marktgemeinde eintragen. Die Schuhplattler zeigten ihr Können, wobei auch einer der Schottischen Spieler in den Tanz mit einbezogen wurde. Ein Alphornbläser spielte den Gästen ein Stück. Nach ein paar Worten ging es dann für die Profis wieder zurück ins Hotel. Begleitet von einem Dudelsackspieler zog die Mannschaft aus der Halls aus und bestieg den Tourbus. Dabei verteilten sie immer wieder Autogramme an die wartenden Fans.
